Whether you’re new to the city or know the streets like the back of your hand, it’s always good to have new recommendations of things to do. Here are some of our favourite sights and attractions in Nottingham.
Ezekial Bone Nottingham Tours
Take a character-led tour of the city to discover Nottingham’s rich history in a unique and entertaining way. There are three different tours to choose from, and are perfect for the whole family. The starting point at Cross Keys is just 11 minutes from our Nottingham hotel on foot.
We recommend: the Guts and Gore Tour, which reveals all about the city’s gruesome past.
Bromley House Library
If you love discovering hidden gems, Bromley House Library is a lesser-known attraction where you can take a tour of the old reading rooms on special open event days. The library is a 16 minute walk away from Jurys Inn, close to Old Market Square.
We recommend: checking the website in advance for more information on open days.
National Justice Museum
At the National Justice Museum, you’ll discover all about the crime and punishment system used in centuries gone by. Exhibitions explore women in prison, capital punishment, children and young offenders, prison reform and more.
We recommend: pre-booking one of the poplar performance-led tours of the museum.
The 19th century Green’s Windmill is located high on a ridge, with beautiful views across the city, and is a great place to spend an afternoon. The windmill is still in use, and you can buy its organic flour from the on-site shop.
We recommend: taking part in the hands on experiments, especially if you’re visiting with children.
Nottingham Contemporary is a cutting-edge international art centre, where you’ll find critically-acclaimed exhibitions, talks, films and family events. Housed in a striking green and gold building, Nottingham Contemporary is close to the Lace Market and just an 11 minute walk from our city centre hotel.
We recommend: enjoying a seasonal, locally-produced meal at the on-site cafe bar.
intu Victoria Centre
If you’re ready to shop til you drop, make sure you visit the revamped intu Victoria Centre where you’ll find high street shops alongside designer stores, restaurants and coffee shops. The centre is even home to a brand new independent ‘street food club’.
We recommend: checking the shopping centre website to find out what’s on while you’re visiting Nottingham.
From dance to comedy, drama and opera, Nottingham Playhouse hosts a great programme of shows throughout the year. If you’re on the look-out for unmissable evening entertainment, Nottingham Playhouse is a must-visit.
We recommend: going to one of the nearby restaurants for a pre-theatre meal.
