Next door to Dublin Writers Museum, and a short five minute walk (see above) from Jurys Inn Dublin Parnell Street sits Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane. As the home of Ireland’s foremost collections of modern and contemporary art, the gallery is definitely worth a visit. With events, collections, exhibitions, a Francis Bacon Studio as well as kids club and Sunday concert, you will not be short of things to do or see, and Admission is free.
Over the road from the City Art Gallery and Dublin’s Writers Museum is the Garden of Remembrance. The Garden is beautiful and a place of reflection as a dedication in memory of all who gave their lives for Irish freedom. Even if only for a brief stop, this garden is worth a stroll.
The Old Jameson Distillery is a great place to go for a day/night out. Tours will take you back in time and lead you on a journey of the Jameson story. The tour includes an audio visual presentation followed by a guided whiskey tour that culminates at the Jameson Discovery Bar where you will receive a complementary glass of Jameson and mixer. The distillery also provides whiskey tasting sessions and, for those who want a full experience there is the Irish Nights package which includes the tour, dinner and a live show.
The Old Jameson Distillery is a leisurely 15 minute walk from Jurys Inn Dublin Parnell Street. The Guided tour costs €14, a self-guided whiskey tasting costs €20 and the full Irish Night costs €47.50.
