Things to do | Posted 22 Apr 2019

Plan your perfect couples’ getaway to the capital with our top ideas for romantic things to do in London. You never know, our list might contain your ideal London wedding venue.

Enjoy the Royal Parks

There are eight Royal Parks in London, covering almost 5,000 acres, with forests, woodland, lakes and gardens perfect for getting lost in, whichever time of year you visit.

During summer you could hire a rowing boat on Serpentine Lake in Hyde Park. It might not be your preferred London wedding venue, for obvious reasons, but could be the ideal place to pop the question.

If the sun is shining, stroll hand-in-hand up to Greenwich Observatory or to the top of Primrose Hill for views of the bustling city below. Take a picnic and go deer-spotting in Richmond Park, before heading to Regent’s Park to explore the rose garden.

In November, Winter Wonderland drops into Hyde Park, with warm gluhwein served to thaw the capital’s sub-zero temperatures. During winter, it’s always nice to wrap up in snug layers and enjoy brisk days amongst busy Londoners, stopping for a coffee — or even champagne — as you do.

Fine Dining with A View

There’s no shortage of fine dining options in London, but when you add spectacular panoramas to the menu, reserving a table for two has never seemed more appealing.

At the top of 20 Fenchurch Street, otherwise known as the Walkie Talkie, there is Darwin Brasserie and Fenchurch Restaurant. Both offer ingenious dishes and stellar wine options. Gaze into each other’s eyes or look down at the cityscape below.

Across the Thames at London Bridge, the Shard offers six different dining options, with Bar 31, Aqua Shard, Oblix, Hutong, TĪNG, and GŎNG all boasting huge windows with panoramic views of the entire city.

Take in A Show on The West End

Enjoy a romantic night in the West End and watch a long-running show, with Les Miserables, Mamma Mia and The Phantom of the Opera the ideal love stories to heighten the mood after an easy day in the city.

Visit London’s Romantic Landmarks

London is brimming with beautiful landmarks, architecture and iconic buildings made famous in books and films. It’s so special, it’ll feel like you’re on the set of Notting Hill.

The Thames is a wonderful place to stroll as the sun sets behind the Houses of Parliament, St Paul’s Cathedral or Tower Bridge. Walk or take a boat along the river.

The pastel houses of Primrose Hill have starred in many films, while Kenwood House, Little Venice, Hampstead Heath and Regent’s Park all ooze with charm you won’t find anywhere else.

A weekend in the city will have you dreaming of your perfect London wedding venue!
