SeaCity Museum

Opening times: 10:00 – 17:00 daily

Head to the SeaCity Museum to learn more about Southampton’s history, people, and connections with the Titanic. There are three main exhibitions to visit here: Southampton: Gateway to the World, Southampton’s Titanic Story, and Southampton Stories. Learn more about the impact of the sinking of the Titanic in 1912, and discover fascinating artefacts from the city’s local collections.

Solent Sky Museum

Opening times: 10:00 – 17:00 Monday to Saturday, and 12:00 – 17:00 on Sundays

Find out more about the history of the aviation industry at Solent Sky Museum. Here you can see over 20 aircraft designs from the golden age of aviation. There are fascinating exhibits to explore, such as the Supermarine Spitfire and the Short Sandringham exhibit, where you can learn about the world’s largest flying boat operation. This museum is the perfect place for anyone with an interest in aviation.

Mayflower Theatre

The Mayflower Theatre is the biggest theatre along the south coast, bringing a huge variety of shows to Southampton, including musicals, drama, comedy, and ballet. Here you can watch amazing West End productions when they tour the UK, as well as one-off music shows that regularly take place at the venue. Tudor House and Garden

Opening times: 10:00 – 15:00 Monday to Thursday, 10:00 to 17:00 Saturday to Sunday, closed on Fridays

Tudor House is Southampton’s most significant historic building, located in the city’s Old Town. Dating back to the 1180s, this Grade I listed building is now a museum where you can learn more about Southampton’s residents through the years. The attraction features a variety of interesting exhibits and a garden which has undergone many transformations. There are also fun activities that children can enjoy throughout the museum.

Southampton City Art Gallery

Opening times: 10:00 – 15:00 Monday to Friday, 10:00 – 17:00 on Saturdays

Located in Southampton’s Civic Centre, Southampton City Art Gallery is a must-visit attraction for art lovers. Opened in 1939, the gallery features over 5,000 works covering six centuries, from paintings and sculptures to photography and film. Explore brilliant displays such as Contemporary Art and 18th Century British Painting. As well as a wonderful permanent collection, the gallery also has displays that change regularly, offering new experiences with each visit.

Southampton City Art Gallery is free to visit. It’s located only a short walk from the SeaCity Museum.

 

Go Ape Southampton

Opening times: 10:00 – 16:00 daily

Looking for fun things to do in Southampton as a family? Head to Go Ape Southampton for an action-packed morning or afternoon. Set within Itchen Valley Country Park, Go Ape offers outdoor activities for all ages. Younger children will enjoy the Treetop Adventure – a high-rope course designed for little ones over 1m tall.
