What would a trip to Edinburgh be without a whisky tasting experience?

The capital of Scotland is known for its affinity with the malt spirit and, as such, is home to an amazing array of shops and bars dedicated to the national drink. To enjoy this quintessential Scottish experience, try one of our favourite whisky bars from the city and enjoy a dram or two…or three!

The Scotch Whisky Experience

The Scotch Whisky Experience is a perfect stop for first time whisky triers and veteran tasters alike! During this immersive experience you’ll get the chance to try several options of scotch all while learning about the history of Scotland’s famous beverage. If you have a group of 10 or more, you can dive in further, getting a more in depth look at the process and more advanced tastings.

The team here have heaps of knowledge and enthusiasm, so will be happy to make recommendations and talk all things whisky throughout your tasting.

Usquabae Whisky Bar & Larder, 2 Hope Street

‘Luxury Flight’ that would amaze  even the most devote whisky collector, Usquabae boasts a broad range of options to suit every group.

This candle-lit, stylish basement bar in the heart of Edinburgh’s vibrant West End is home to everything from iconic whisky brands to obscure and unique single cast bottlings, in an atmospheric setting.

The Bow Bar

The Bow Bar simply deals in good whisky. The buzzing atmosphere of this drinking den makes it a local favourite, with over 310 whiskys to select. This is an ideal location to test out some Scottish whisky in an authentic setting, with its classic pub décor. The no music policy means you’re in for a night of drinks and chatter, with help from the knowledgeable staff about which whisky to pick next. Here you can drink your way through Scotland without leaving your seat.

This interestingly lit bar has an eclectic range of furnishings and modern styling, the Black Cat is a lively place to visit. There is a broad range of well-chosen Scottish whiskies that make up arguably one of Edinburgh’s best selections.

Lining their packed shelves are a number of hidden gems, so it’s worth having a real look round before choosing. If you’re struggling to decide, there is an extensive range of malts that may be samples in taster flights, allowing you to experience the variety of flavours whisky has to offer.
