Days Out

Albert Dock

Home to the fantastic ‘The Beatles Story’ experience, Albert Dock offers a unique selection of stylish bars, restaurants and shops, as well as being a hub of tourist attractions on Liverpool’s charming waterfront. We recommend ‘Nature’s Treasure’ (which is filled with unusual knick knacks and jewellery) for shopping and ‘The Pump House’ for food.

Albert Dock sits just a four minute walk from our Liverpool hotel, offering guests a prime location to enjoy one of Liverpool’s top attractions.

The Beatles Story

Experience the greatest pop story the world has ever known in the city where it all began! The Beatles Story is told in 18 separate features including the streets of Hamburg, a full-size replica of the Cavern Club (complete with basement smells!) and a walk-through Yellow Submarine in underwater setting. The Beatles Story is open 9/10am to 6/7pm depending on season.

The ultimate experience ticket costs £15.95 for an adult ticket and £9 for children. This ticket includes ‘The Beatles Story’ and ‘Elvis and Us’ (Elvis’ influence on the Beatles) exhibitions, as well as the ‘Discovery Zone and Fab 4D’ experience. The ‘Discovery Zone and Fab 4D’ experience is a great option if you’re visiting with children, just bear in mind that the Fab 4D is actually at Pier Head, which is just a short walk from the Albert Dock.

Spaceport:

Liverpool’s Spaceport offers a fabulous day out that is both educational and fun for all the family. The Spaceport has a range of themed galleries that provide hands-on exhibits and experiences that take you on a journey through space.

The experience costs just £9 per adult and £6.00 per child, and opening times are between 10am-3pm on weekdays and 10am-5pm on weekends with last admissions and hour and half before closing time.

You can catch the River Explorer Cruise from Pier head (16 minute walk from Leonardo Hotels) to Seacombe Ferry Terminal. The journey takes around 30 minutes, or, alternatively, you can catch a direct 10 minute service during peak times.

There are also a range of attractions along the River Explorer Cruise that allow you to ‘make a day of it’ on the river, take a look at the timetable, Cruise route and activities. Prices vary depending on which activities you decide to do - combined tickets are available.

The Wheel of Liverpool:

The Wheel of Liverpool is a fantastic city attraction and it’s about a minute away from Leonardo hotel Liverpool! Enjoy breath-taking panoramic views of Liverpool’s waterfront, docks and city as you climb 60 metres in a glass capsule.

These fantastic views can be enjoyed day or night with the wheel opening between 10am-9pm Monday to Thursday, 10am-11pm on Fridays, 9am-11pm Saturdays and 9am-8pm on Sundays.

Children under three ride for free, ages 4-16 cost £6.50, and adult tickets come in at £9.00.

Curious about tours:

Liverpool is bursting with history, culture and heritage for you to explore. If you’re travelling with children, the “Curious about…” tours offer a fun and interactive way to learn all about Liverpool.

Liverpool 1 offers two walks. The first is about 1.5 miles and covers Museums, Music and Culture. The second is a little a shorter at around 1.1 miles and takes you down to the river Port and Docks.

Liverpool 2: If Liverpool 1 hasn’t caught your fancy, Liverpool 2 also offers two walks. Walk one takes you through the ‘streets soaked in history’ and includes two cathedrals, covering 1.25 miles of Liverpool’s city centre. Walk two is around 0.75 miles and also includes the cathedrals, but takes you through St Luke’s ‘bombed-out church’ (WWII) and the Chinese Arch.

The tours cost £3.99 each to download and £4.50 + p&p to buy as a booklet. There is no ticket office to check in with, so you can start whenever you are ready!

Knowsley Safari Park

Enjoy a 5 mile safari through 450 acres of historic parkland containing lions, tigers, rhinos and a spectacular herd of elephants. Enjoy this immersive experience all from the comfort of your own vehicle! Knowsley Safari Park is only a short 20 minute drive from our hotel in Liverpool and admission costs £16.50 for adults, and £12.50 for children.

Chinese Arch

Located on Nelson Street, this awesome arch was shipped from Shanghai bit by bit to form the largest imperial arch outside of China. Painted in vibrant red and green, it stands over fifty feet tall. The Chinese Arch is a leisurely 20 minute walk from Leonardo Hotel Liverpool.
