Top 5 Most Annoying Things Encountered By Business Travellers

Jurys Inns responds to business travellers’ needs with a revamped Corporate Online booking tool, earlier breakfasts and more

Frequent business travellers have spoken and revealed to Jurys Inns the top 5 most annoying things they encounter when travelling. This feedback is a timely reminder to the hotel industry as business travel is showing signs of stabilisation*. Jurys Inns has reacted quickly to business travellers’ feedback and has revamped its Corporate Online booking tool, introduced earlier breakfasts and mobile charging stations amongst other initiatives to ensure their guest’s everyday city centre hotel stay is exceptional.

The top 5 most annoying things encountered by business travellers are...
  1. Not being able to find the hotel in the first place (35% of respondents)
  2. Forgetting to check-in online / print boarding pass and being charged at the airport (28%)
  3. Dull bathroom lighting which isn’t make-up friendly (17%)
  4. Forgetting a mobile or blackberry charger (11%)
  5. Missing breakfast because of an early meeting (9%)
Jurys Inns has revamped its Corporate Online booking tool to ensure SMEs get the best value for money and flexibility when booking. Previously, a fixed rate was offered to business customers however, now businesses have access to the best available rate on any given night in addition to their usual negotiated corporate rate. The service is also conveniently available online and the booking is confirmed in real time.   

John Brennan, CEO of Jurys Inns said:
“Travelling for business can be a stressful experience so we try and do everything we can to make it as pleasurable as possible for our guests. Unlike holidaymakers, business travellers are on tight schedules and it’s the simple things like printing out a guests’ boarding pass or having a supply of mobile chargers handy for guests which can ensure a hiccup free stay.”

Jurys Inns’ size and independence enables the hotel group to react quickly to guests' suggestions and make any changes needed so they feel welcome every time. In 2009 the hotel group was jointly named the Most Improved Business Brand based on the results of BDRC’s annual British Hotel Guest Survey.

Jurys Inns has even taken the extra step of moving bathroom lightbulbs at hotels for better make-up application! They consulted female guests to find just the right spot for lightbulbs so they are not too harsh but provide the right amount of lighting to ensure no foundation faux pas.  

Just a couple of months ago Jurys Inns started serving breakfast at 6.45am so that business travellers heading to early morning meetings don’t miss the most important meal of the day. Guests also have access to a “charging station” in reception areas at Jurys Inns hotels which cater for a wide variety of mobiles and blackberries. Furthermore, a selection of chargers are kept behind the reception desk for guests to borrow.

In further response to this feedback from business travellers, this month Jurys Inns will add the GPS co-ordinates of its 30 hotels to, ensuring that all of its city centre hotels throughout the UK and Ireland are as easy as possible to find.
