Jurys Inn Shines at the Scottish Hotel Awards 2010 with Nine Wins

The hotel group recognises its own talent with Jurys Inn Employee of the Year Awards
Jurys Inn’s ‘Exceptional Everyday City Hotels’ have been recognised by the Scottish Hotel Awards 2010 with eight awards. Jurys Inn, the UK’s First Green Hotel Group*, won the Eco Hotel Group of the Year award and its hotels in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen were also high achievers on the night.
The £17.5 million Jurys Inn Aberdeen which officially opened in the city centre on World Responsible Tourism Day in October 2009, bagged the awards for Scottish New Hotel of the Year and Aberdeen City Hotel of the Year.
Jurys Inn Glasgow won Premium Budget Hotel of the Year and Best Breakfast. The hotel’s General Manager, Paul Bray received a Gold Medal at the awards ceremony for his exceptional leadership and management skills. Lynsey McLelland, the hotel’s Sales Manager was recognised as Scottish Sales Manager of the Year.
Due to the success of the hotel in Glasgow and high-demand for Jurys Inn rooms in the city centre, the hotel group plans to further invest in the city by opening a new hotel in 2011.
Jurys Inn Edinburgh won the Scottish Eco Hotel of the Year award and its General Manager, Barry Rowland received Special Commendation for his work running the busy hotel.
The Seventh Annual Scottish Hotel Awards took place on April 25th at The Prestonfield House Hotel in Edinburgh.

At Jurys Inn’s own Employee of the Year Awards 2009 held recently, Jurys Inn Chelsea was recognised as the group’s Hotel of the Year. Jurys Inn Custom House won the award for Environmentally Friendly Hotel of the Year – a tough award to win given the strong green credentials across all hotels. Custom House led the way in terms of water savings, introducing new green initiatives to save as much as possible.
Rodrigo Barraza, Guest Services Supervisor at Jurys Inn Islington won the prestigious Employee of the Year Award in recognition of his exceptional customer service and being a positive role model to fellow employees. He was judged by a panel made up Mark Payne, Travel Manager at Santander, Karen Urban from Hotels and More, and Jurys Inn’s Health and Safety Manager, Sean Twohig and Financial Controller, Grant Speed.
Jurys Inn Derby received the Exceptional Customer Service award following a survey which showed that 92 per cent of guests would stay at the hotel again because of the hotel team’s friendliness.
Earlier this year, Jurys Inn launched its new classification ‘Exceptional Everyday City Hotels’. Although Jurys Inn is technically classified as a three star hotel group, guests don’t put it in that category. This reflects a combination of its four star facilities, such as large welcoming reception areas, a separate bar and restaurant, and also consistent delivery of warm and friendly service.
