Jurys Inn Exeter Hotel Opens Today, Friday June 5th – Strong Green Credentials and Over 50 Local Jobs Created...
The highly anticipated Jurys Inn Exeter hotel opens today, leading the way in regenerating the northern end of the Exeter city centre and creating more than 50 jobs for local people. It is also the first new build hotel in the area since 1998. Jurys Inn Exeter includes a host of green initiatives including a partnership with local eco taxi company, Gemini Taxis, to ensure the hotel is environmentally friendly.
Just a 10 minute walk from Exeter Central train station, the 170-bedroom, six-storey Jurys Inn hotel in Exeter aims to become an important partner to local businesses and work closely with the local community. Jurys Inns’ strategic development partner, McAleer and Rushe, have invested £15 million in the Exeter hotel launch.
The opening of the hotel has given a huge boost to employment in the area following a successful recruitment drive with Exeter Jobcentre Plus. An open day was held which was hugely oversubscribed. Four hundred local people submitted applications for the Jurys Inn Exeter positions and 46 locally-based candidates were hired as a result of the open day.
In addition, Jurys Inn Exeter and Exeter Jobcentre Plus ran a three week training program targeting local unemployed people. The program guaranteed an interview with Jurys Inns management and as a result nine people were hired.
