Never miss out on nap time again. Bedroom couture so comfy you can have a duvet day everyday!

submited Tue 22 Mar, 2016
  • Suit and duvet combo – THE SUVET, allows wearer to experience 24/7 comfort, on the go
  • Created by Jurys Inn Hotel Group in response to research that found over half of Brits struggle to get out of bed for work
  • Jurys Inn collaborates with celebrity costume designer Wendy Benstead to create one-of-a-kind suit
London, Monday 21st March 2016 – With Brits set to face the prospect of an hour LESS in bed as the clocks go forward this Sunday (27th March), Jurys Inn Hotel Group has created the first ever suit and duvet combo – THE SUVET, in a bid to help the nation reclaim their lost sleep by wearing nap-enhancing clothing.

It might mark the beginning of spring but after surveying 2,500 Brits, the hotel group discovered the thought of losing an hours sleep is a daunting prospect for many British workers as over half (56%) already face a daily struggle to wake up from their slumber, with lack of sleep (42%), temperature outside of the duvet (40%) and fear of the working day ahead (31%), topping the list of reasons to stay in bed.

What’s more, with 54% of us hitting the snooze button every morning and almost a third (28%) claiming the sheer comfort of bed makes it an impossible feat to get up in the morning, many are at risk of not making it into work on time next Monday.

Now, for the first time, a comfortable and on-trend solution to help working Brits get out of bed and catch up on lost sleep wherever and whenever the mood takes them, has been created by Jurys Inn Hotel Group in collaboration with costume designer to the stars, Wendy Benstead.

Having created show-stopping garments for the likes of Paloma Faith and Kimberley Wyatt, Wendy’s design of THE SUVET was inspired by the latest runway trend of quilted clothing for A/W 2016, which has seen catwalk sensations Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen and Balenciaga putting their stamp on the always-functional, rarely attractive puffer coat. Using extreme oversized padding and comfy-chic detailing to counter cold British temperatures, the ingenious SUVET has been created to provide the ultimate bedroom couture with 24/7 comfort in mind, taking you from dreamland to desk without feeling the cold.

Jurys Inn made the one-off garment after their research also revealed 63% of Brits value comfort over style (58%) when it comes to fashion. Using the hotel chain’s finest bespoke feather and down duvets, which are 100% cotton and have a tog rating of 10.5 - renowned for giving guests the best night’s sleep, THE SUVET comes in both a male and female variations and is ideal for those who crave comfort all day long.

With almost half (43%) of us admitting to catching 40 winks on public transport and a further 22% nodding off in work, THE SUVET is every commuters DREAM.  Its snood-like collar doubles up as a pillow, allowing the wearer to literally snooze anywhere and everywhere they go and its over-sized shoulders provide a functional benefit of guaranteeing personal space during the busy daily commute, although be warned some opportunists may take advantage and snuggle up.

Suzanne Cannon, Head of Marketing for Jurys Inn, said: “With over half (56%) of us already finding it a struggle to get up in the morning, daylight saving time can really disrupt our body clocks.

“As a nation of workaholics, things like fatigue, lack of sleep and even the comfort of our beds can make getting up an arduous task, so we've created THE SUVET - a comfortable, stylish outfit to make getting up for work and tackling the day ahead easier.

“We pride ourselves on giving guests a great night sleep using dream-inducing bedding so we thought this would be a fun way to give consumers the chance to take the comfort of our beds literally anywhere they go.  If there is enough interest in this prototype we will definitely consider putting a limited edition run into production - after all, who doesn’t like the thought of a duvet day, every day.”
