Yesterday, busy commuters were stopped in their tracks when a bed on wheels rolled into rush hour traffic in central London.
The fully functioning Jurys Inn Hotel bed installation, otherwise known as the Snooze Cruise, shocked onlookers as it passed the London Eye, Pall Mall and Covent Garden with The Only Way is Essex star Lydia Bright onboard.
The vehicle was created to celebrate the launch of the new luxury beds that will be rolling out across Jurys Inn Hotels across the UK from October onward.
Additionally, a study from the hotel group recently revealed 70% of Brits are too stressed to sleep when it comes to hitting the hay. Of over 2,000 UK adults polled, Jurys Inn also found 36% of the nation finds themselves drowsy, with work (25%) debts (21%) and health issues (21%) keeping Brits awake at night. The research also found that sleep-deprived Brits find having a decent mattress (29%), clean sheets (28%) and black out curtains (22%) key to bagging a better night’s sleep.
In a bid to give Brits the chance to catch up on a few winks, Jurys Inn brought the Snooze Cruise to the streets of London, giving passers-by the opportunity to Snooze ‘n’ Cruise their way around the city from the comfort of the DREAM bed by Jurys Inn. With cloud-like comfort, the new custom-made DREAM bed features intelligent body support using King Koil’s luxury coil springs, a new bespoke feather and down duvet and soft, fluffy pillows adding another level of indulgence.
Marketing Manager for Jurys Inn, Suzanne Cannon, said; “It’s troubling to see how many Brits are struggling to get to sleep when bedtime comes around. Our research revealed having a decent mattress (29%), clean sheets (28%) and black out curtains (22%) are key to Brits bagging a better night’s sleep, so we thought we would have a bit of fun by giving consumers the opportunity to test-drive our new DREAM bed, whilst also exploring our city centre locations.”
“The ‘DREAM Bed’ will be rolled out to select Jurys Inn hotels this month and to celebrate; the Snooze Cruise will be popping up in random locations throughout the UK, so keep your eyes peeled.”
Commenting on the Snooze Cruise The Only Way is Essex’ Lydia Bright said, “I’ve travelled around London in many modes of transport, but the Snooze Cruise is definitely a first. It was great fun to see people’s reactions when I popped up in my jammies offering them a free lift on the new comfy hotel bed.
“When it comes to sleep, I’m not surprised so many of us struggle to get a good night’s sleep. I have a really bad habit of replying to everyone on my social media and emails before bed, as I can’t nod off knowing I need to get back to people – especially if its work related. I’m also a really light sleeper, so when Arg stays it can be challenging as he snores loudly.”
Jurys Inn has 22 UK hotels with staff members that know their cities inside out and can advise on the best hidden gems and local landmarks to visit. Each Jurys Inn offers free wi-fi throughout the hotel, spacious rooms, Freeview TV and all day Costa Coffee Bars.
