As promised, we’ve come up with our next 5 top running trails to share!
It can be difficult to keep up that all important exercise regime when you’re travelling, whether it be for business or pleasure. If you’re building up for a longer run such as a half marathon or a full marathon, it is key to maintain your fitness. That’s why we’ve come up with our top routes that will allow you to incorporate some exercise and catch the sights all at once.
So here are our top running trails in Edinburgh, Bradford, Plymouth, Liverpool and Nottingham.
Our hotel in Edinburgh is ideally located just off the Royal Mile and is close to all attractions and amenities. We recommend a run in Holyrood Park which is located beside the official residence to her Majesty Queen Elizabeth 2nd in Scotland and just a 13 minute walk (or warm up jog) from the hotel.
Begin your run at Queen’s Drive at the Palace entrance, take the first left and continue along the pathway. On your way you will pass Arthur’s Seat, the highest point in the park and also a dormant volcano! The total distance around Queen’s Drive is approximately 5 kilometres.
Conveniently located on the doorstep of Jurys Inn Bradford is City Park, Bradford’s award winning public space. This six acre space dotted in the centre of the city is a must when visiting Bradford and is perfect for running or a gentle stroll. Start at the entrance at Godwin Street and continue around to the right. Make sure you pass The Mirror Pool which is the UK’s biggest urban water feature.
Famous for its waterfront and harbour, Plymouth is a great place to explore on foot and you’ll take in the fantastic coastal views of the sunny South West while getting in some exercise. We recommend you walk or jog to Madeira Road which is less that a 15 minute walk from the hotel. Continue along Madeira road towards Hoe road and finish up at Great Western Road. On your route you’ll pass the Plymouth Dome, Smeaton’s Tower and Millbay Pier.
Jurys Inn Liverpool is conveniently located on King’s Waterfront, overlooking the famous Liverpool docklands.
Begin your run by turning left once you exit the hotel and continue along Keel Wharf and the Albert Dock. You’ll pass many well-known points around the Albert Dock including the Echo Arena, the Merseyside Maritime Museum and not to mention all of the stylish bars and restaurants. If you fancy a run further afield, you can continue on from the Albert Dock to Kings Parade and Atlantic Way where you’ll enjoy splendid views of the River Mersey.

Known for being surrounded by lush greenery, Nottingham is a great place to discover on foot. As our hotel is ideally situated close to the canal, we suggest taking a run along this long stretch for approximately 1 kilometre until the canal meets the River Trent. As you exit the hotel cross the road and continue right on London Road. Along the way you'll come across Notts County Football Stadium and the very colourful canal boats just like Rosie and Jims!
