High Voltage July 2011 Jul 01
Email a Friend

The second annual High Voltage music festival, held in Victoria Park in London on the 23rd and 24th July, is sure to be as successful as the first festival. The line-up of musicians representing all strands of rock music—classic rock, progressive rock, and heavy metal—is outstanding.

In this era of sluggish DVD sales, music festivals have become the way for record labels to get the word out to the fans about new music, and about new and upcoming artists. This is certainly true for HMV, the sponsor of High Voltage.

High Voltage is a true rock fan’s festival. Its organisers have worked hard to learn from last year’s festival, as well as from other rock festivals. In other words, it’s “custom built by rock fans for rock fans.” Three unique stages, each specially designed to cater to different aspects of rock, feature amazing headliners and a brilliant supporting cast that play must-see sets in between the big name acts. Additionally, the food is great (celebrity chef Jamie Oliver is featured), the beer is proper, the toilets are clean, and the prices are right.

Speaking of prices, tickets are going for £99 for weekend tickets and £56.50 for day tickets. VIP tickets are available for £105.00 for a single day and £199.00 for the weekend. For a great hotel check out the Jurys Inn range of hotels in London.

Here is the line-up for High Voltage, alphabetical order: Amplifier, Anathema, Attica Rage, Barclay James Harvest, Black Country Communion, Black Spiders, Caravan, Curved Air, Dream Theater, Electric Wizard, Evile, Furyon, Gentleman’s Pistols, Grand Magus, Jethro Tull, Judas Priest, Michael Schenker Group, Mostly Autumn, Neal Morse, Neurosis, Pallas, Primitai, Queensrych, Ravens Creed, Rival Sons, Saint Jude, Skin, Slash, Spock’s Beard, The End, Thin Lizzy, Thunder, and the Von Hertzen Brothers.
