Belfast Music Week 2010 is a celebration of the music of Belfast, Northern Ireland. As the home of artists such as Van Morrison and DJ David Holmes, Belfast is home to a rich musical heritage that the event is designed to showcase. Many of Belfast's artists are known for a vigorous playing style, perhaps due in part to the industrial history of Belfast. This is just one reason why Belfast's music scene has been one of the most lively and quickly growing music scenes in the world. Running from September 12th until the 19th, Belfast Music Week 2010 will feature over 100 musical events including new Belfast bands, songwriters and DJ's, as well as key musicians and groups from Belfast's musical heritage and contemporary music scene. These performances will culminate with a free concert by platinum-selling Mark Ronson and the Business Intl presented by MTV. This concert will take place on September 19th at Belfast Waterfront Hall. Tickets must be applied for in advance.

Belfast Music Week 2010 will also include seminars, workshops and networking events featuring speakers from the Belfast and global music industries. In addition, visitors will be able to visit the Belfast Music Exhibition at the Oh Yeah centre in the Cathedral Quarter. The exhibit will showcase Belfast and Northern Ireland's musical history by informing visitors about artists such as Snow Patrol, Stiff Little Fingers, Ruby Murray and the Undertones. The exhibit explores Belfast's legacy of jazz, heavy rock and even DJ culture. A variety of musical memorabilia will be featured such as vintage stage gear, lyric sheets, platinum records and other important artifacts of Belfast's musical history. With over 100 live musical events, Belfast Music Week 2010 will have something for nearly anyone, regardless of musical taste. The festival begins on September 12th and runs until September 19th.
