Under an hour’s drive from the Peak District National Park, just a twenty-five minute drive to Nottingham city centre, and only twenty minute drive to Derby, our airport hotel is ideal for those keen to explore the Midlands.

Theatre Royal and Royal Concert Hall (Nottingham)

Hosting a range of events from stand-up comedy to west end musicals and music events, Nottingham’s Theatre Royal and Royal Concert Hall offers visitors a great night of entertainment. Take a look at upcoming shows to plan a visit.

Situated in Nottingham, the Theatre Royal and Royal Concert Hall are a thirty-minute drive from our East Midlands Airport hotel.

Derby Quad (Derby)

Home to a cinema, gallery, and a range events, Derby Quad is filled with entertainment, culture, and education. The Quad is also home to café bar and shop – browse the upcoming shows to plan your visit.

Situated in Derby city centre, Derby Quad is a short twenty-minute drive from Jurys Inn East Midlands Airport.


Set amongst 120 acres of forest and bursting with activities, Conkers provides a fantastic day out for the whole family. There is a myriad of outdoor attractions to get stuck in with, whether tackling the assault course, squelching through the barefoot walk, riding on the Conkerchoo II train, or embarking on one of the ‘experience days’ or ‘adventures’ of ‘bush craft survival’, ‘kata canoeing’, archery, and more.

Indoors, the family can explore the discovery centre, enter the enchanted forest play zone, and engage with over 100 interactive exhibits in the four seasonal zones. If you’re brave enough, there’s also a ‘Hi Ropes Course’, ‘Lo Ropes Course’, ‘Powerfan Descender’, zip wire, and climbing wall to try your hand at.

General admission tickets cost £9.95 for adults and £7.95 for children, the ropes courses, climbing wall, zip wire, and powerfan descender are available as ‘add-on adventures’, if you would like to only partake in these aerial adventures, tickets are available. Conkers is a short twenty-minute drive from Jury Inn East Midlands Airport.

Elvaston Castle Country Park

Spanning 321 acres of open parkland, woodland, and formal historical gardens, Elvaston Castle Country Park provides the perfect location to enjoy a ramble in the countryside and a picnic. There are range of footpaths and trails for walking, cycling, bird watching, and photography. Horse-riding facilities are also available, and for wildlife lovers there’s a local nature reserve. Although closed to the public, Elvaston Castle sits at the heart of the park and is an impressive example of Gothic revival architecture. Entry is free but car parking charges apply. The park is open all year round, opening at 9am and closing at 5pm (October-March) and 8pm (April-September). Elvaston Castle Country Park is a short twenty-minute drive from our hotel.

Great Central Railway

Travel back in time and climb aboard a stream train on the UK’s only double track, main line heritage railway. Running trains every weekend of the year, the Great Central Railway takes travellers on a journey from Loughborough through to Leicester North, stopping at Quorn and Woodhouse, and Rothley. There is also a range of dining options on board, from the Griddle Car to ‘Luncheons’. The Great Central Railway run a wide range of special events – take a look at ‘what’s on’ to plan a visit.

A ‘Day runabout’ ticket costs £16 for adults and £14 for children, and the timetable depends on the time of the year. The Great Central Railway is a short twenty-minute drive from our East Midlands Airport hotel.

Attenborough Nature Reserve

Famous for its bird wildlife, the Attenborough Nature Reserve is perfect for a mini ‘nature expedition’ as you explore the many trails of the reserve. The Nature Centre offers a range of facilities, including the Café, Indoor Nature Discovery Centre, and a Nature shop where you can pick up a souvenir. The reserve has free entry and sits a twenty-minute drive from Jurys Inn.

Wollaton Hall & Park

Dating back to the 16th century, Wollaton Hall is a magnificent Grade I listed Elizabethan mansion bursting with history and heritage. Explore the ‘period rooms’ where you can see an example of the Tudor kitchen or the Regency Salon, ramble the 500 acres of parkland in which deer roam with you, or discover the Nottingham Industrial Museum in the 17th century stables block. Whether you embark on the hall tour, attend one of the hall’s events, peruse the Natural History Gallery, or uncover the botanic garden, there’s plenty to see and do for all ages.

Admission to the hall is free, however tours cost £5 and there are car parking charges. The hall is open daily 10am-5pm. Situated just outside Nottingham, Wollaton Hall is a twenty-five minute drive from Jurys Inn East Midlands Airport.

National Brewery Centre

Enjoy an immersive day out learning about the ins and outs of brewing and the unique heritage of beer at the National Brewery Centre. The museum explores real-life experiences, and the tour takes visitors on a journey through the history and process of brewing, as well as looking at the role that steam engines and vintage vehicles played. The centre runs a range of events, and offers a café, gift shop, and ‘The Beer Boutique’ for those wishing to pick up a souvenir or local beer.

Opening hours vary depending on the time of year. Admission includes the guided tour, car parking, and three beer tasting vouchers (adults) and costs £8.95 for adults and £4.95 for children. The National Brewery Centre sits a twenty-five minute drive from our East Midlands Airport hotel.

National Space Centre

Embark on a journey that is out of this world at the National Space Centre. A great attraction for those of all ages, the space centre offers six interactive galleries, an iconic Rocket Tower, the UK’s largest planetarium, a weather pod, a myriad of ‘hands-on challenges’, and a 3D SIM ride. There’s also an onsite café and gift shop, and the centre runs a range of special events- take a look at the current programme to plan your visit.

The centre is open 10am-4pm Tuesday-Friday, closing an hour later on weekends. Tickets cost £13 for adults and £11 for children. The National Space Centre is a twenty-five minute drive from Jurys Inn.

The Aeropark

Situated at the East Midlands Airport, The Aeropark is a unique aviation museum exhibiting 26 aircrafts for you to explore, as well as a range of ‘airport infrastructure items’, such as a mobile ATC van, and a radar and IRVR unit. The Romney building dates back to WWII and houses engine exhibits as well as displays of aviation memorabilia. There is also a ‘viewing mound’ for visitors to view and photograph airplanes taking off and landing.

Entrance costs £3 for adults and £1 for children, and the park is open Thursdays and weekends during the summer and Sundays during winter. The Aeropark sits on the north side of the airport, just five minutes from our hotel.

The Donington Grand Prix Collection

Situated at Donington Park race circuit, the Donington Grand Prix Collection is the largest showcase of grand prix racing cars in the world. Spanning over four halls and displaying 130 exhibits, visitors can truly get a feel for the history of motorsport as they get close to the cars of iconic drivers. The exhibition also includes the Wheatcroft Military Collection which is home to a range of WWII vehicles and motorcycles.

The Donington Grand Prix Collection is open daily 10am to 5pm and costs £10 for adults and £4 for children ages 6-16. The collection is a five-minute drive from our hotel.

intu Derby Shopping Centre

Bursting with fashion, health, beauty, electronics, jewellery stores and more, intu Derby Shopping Centre is the perfect place for a bit of retail therapy. The centre is also home to a range of places to eat from coffee shops and patisseries to sit down restaurants.

The centre is open daily, opening at 9am and closing between 6 and 8pm Monday – Saturday (depending on the day), the centre is open 1.30am -4.30pm on Sundays. intu Derby is a twenty-minute drive from Jurys Inn.
