Ireland is steeped in local specialties that are a must for visitors and are well known by the residents. As time has progressed, Ireland has gradually combined its traditional specialty plates with fast food selections to provide a broad must-taste range. Here are the top 5 destinations for eating in Ireland:

Kylemore

Kylemore started as a bakery in 1920 and has since grown into one of the more common Irish food outlets around. They currently operate over 20 separate locations in and around Dublin and Cork, so it’s relatively easy to find one for lunch or dinner. Kylemore represents the fusion of traditional favorites such as the full Irish breakfast and Irish stew with more modern sandwiches and cuisines. With modest pricing, traditional Irish history and many modern locales, Kylemore is an excellent place to start.

Shanks Restaurant

Located in Bangor, Northern Ireland, Shanks Restaurant is run by a husband and wife duo. The best part about Shanks Restaurant is the variety of seafood including wild Irish salmon complete with lobster dressing. Seafood items are supplemented with plenty of other options featuring quail, pheasant, venison and pigeon topped off with premier ingredients such as rhubarb jus and broad bean risotto. Shanks Restaurant offers the perfect combination of meats brought in from the local game estate with seafood and top notch spices.

Eddie Rocket’s Diner

Eddie Rocket’s diner is the premier franchised 1950’s experience. With locations in Cork, Dublin, Limerick, Waterford and more, Eddie Rocket’s is Ireland’s fast food solution. They offer wallet friendly burgers, fish plates and sandwiches. It’s also a good place for a quick breakfast stop, particularly if you’re looking for a full Irish breakfast complete with black pudding and mushrooms.

Dobbins Restaurant

Located in Dublin’s city center, Dobbins Restaurant has remodeled their entire interior to keep up with their high class menu. Dobbins’ staff recommends that you make a reservation beforehand and be prepared to pay 9 GBP for a starter and over 19 GBP for one of the main courses. However, the expensive pricing allows you to taste some of Ireland’s top cuisines. You’ll be able to taste interesting selections such as Terrine of Ham, which contains smoked duck, brioche with pear and fig chutney, or perhaps the more simple Prime Sirloin of Hereford Beef complete with freshly sliced potato chips and pepper sauce.

Green Nineteen Café

Green Nineteen Café is a genuine combination of a modern atmosphere with traditional Irish inspired main courses. Located in Lower Camden Street in Dublin, Green Nineteen Café’s main menu starts with sandwiches from 8.50 GBP to main courses up to 10 GBP, so a stop for lunch or dinner certainly won’t break the budget. Irish inspired courses include the organic Irish burger and corned beef as well as the grilled Mediterranean and Irish vegetable sandwich.

The Porterhouse Brewing Co.

Porterhouse Brewing maintains four locations in and around Dublin where you can enjoy a proper Irish pub atmosphere and supplement it with quality food. Their menu starts with pub snacks such as smoked salmon, and Carlingford rock oysters to complement your pint of beer. If you’re craving for more than a snack, try the beef and porter stout pie, Irish stew or standard Irish beef burger.
