English rock gods Muse will be playing at Old Trafford Cricket ground on September 4, 2010. The Old Trafford Cricket Ground, around since 1856, has seen some of the largest international cricket matches have been played at the ground as well as some of the largest names in popular music. Bands like REM, Green Day, Coldplay and Bruce Springsteen have all played the ground. This is not the first time for Muse in Manchester. Muse has played multiple sold out gigs there.

Muse formed in 1994 in Devon, England. They blend prog rock, electronica, classical, heavy metal and alternative rock to create a very diverse and original sound. Vocalist Matthew Bellamy often delivers his lyrics in vibrato and falsetto tones and his guitar work is heavily influenced by Jimi Hendrix and Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine. Members of Muse have cited glam rock legend Queen as one of their main influences. Muse has even earned the respect of Queen guitarist Brian May, who claims to be a fan of the band. They have released five studio albums and two live albums in their time as a band.

Muse has sold out venues across the UK and the world. They have opened for bands such as U2 and headlined the storied and monolithic Glastonbury festival in the summer of 2010. They have won dozens of awards including NME Awards, MTV Europe Music Awards and BRIT Awards. Their show will be one of the main events in Manchester for September 2010. Muse's Manchester show on September 4 at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground is regrettably sold out. In fact, their current UK tour sold out - all 85,000 available tickets - in just 30 minutes. For those lucky enough to have purchased tickets, the doors for the show open at 4 p.m.
