Those with an appreciation of the live arts may be aware of the annual festival that takes place each summer in Edinburgh, Scotland. The Edinburgh Festival is not actually one festival, but a series of different live performance festivals that intersect for a number of weeks during the month of August. People gather from around the world to witness and perform live art such as dance, music, opera and theatre. Whether going to see a particular performance or staying for the entirety of the festival, The Edinburgh Festival is a wonderful travel destination.

Live Performances

During the span of the Edinburgh Festival, there are a number of different live performances for travelers to take in. There are a variety of plays and live theatre events ranging from classic works to modern theatre. These plays will usually run for several days during the festival, giving you greater freedom when scheduling your trip. Opera enthusiasts come to the Edinburgh Festival to see the best in international operas. The Edinburgh Festival also features dance companies from around the world. There are usually several musical performances from world class musicians and singers during each day of the Edinburgh Festival.

The Edinburgh Festival is also known for its high number of workshops and seminars. The festival runs several conversation workshops where the artists and directors themselves talk about their craft and their vision. You can also participate in exploration seminars on a variety of different subjects pertaining to live art and culture. This makes the Edinburgh Festival a great place for travelers to not only be entertained, but to learn as well.
