The renowned Cirque du Soleil will bring its magical talents of the Saltimbanco show to Prague on Friday, November 12 through to Sunday, November 14 at the O2 Arena. The literal translation of the term Saltimbanco means 'To Jump on a Bench', but the show itself centres on joyful, mesmerizing and colorful acrobatics set amid a bustling metropolis. The show uses its Saltimbanco theme to explore the varied urban experiences in its many forms -- from the people who call it home, to the towering skyscrapers and crowded streets, to the idiosyncrasies that define urban dwellers. To accomplish such a feat, the show will use baroque-themed visuals and an eclectic array of characters. You'll truly feel like you've entered a dream world when you watch the Saltimbanco show of Cirque du Soleil.
There will be a variety of different acts and characters throughout the show, but here are some of our favorite acts:
The Adagio act is based off of a discipline known as acrosport. As such, it will feature the continuous melding of three acrobats as they showcase their flexibility, strength, grace and balance. On a deeper level, this act is a symbol for family and the struggles they face in a decidedly urban environment. The Russian Swing act occurs on a theatrical playground. The characters will leap from a Russian swing, being catapulted as high as 30 feet into the air, before they begin their breathtaking spiral downward. You won't see aerial jumps like these anywhere else. The Juggling act, an homage to the many juggling aspects of life itself, will feature a juggler struggling to create acrobatic forms while juggling balls at the same time. It's all about rhythm for this act.
