The Long Stone is a very lively pub that is also able to maintain a relaxed atmosphere within the spirited conversation and interaction. The pub is not far from Trinity College, so there is a large younger crowd, but many folks of more advanced years go there as well. The downstairs level features plenty of seating around the bar, while upstairs there is the opportunity for a more intimate evening.
Brogans - 75 Dame Street, Dublin 2
Brogans is a genuine Dublin pub that is located right next door to the Olympia Theatre. This location gives Brogans a wide selection of clientele, as many people find their way to the pub before and after various shows. Outside of the show crowds, Brogans patrons generally run from age 20 through 40. On Tuesday nights, Brogans hosts a poetry competition that features an open mic.
The Foggy Dew - 1 Fownes Street Upper, Dublin 2
The Foggy Dew overlooks Central Bank Square in the heart of Dublin's city centre. The late afternoons are a great time to visit The Foggy Dew to get a good feel for the local life, as the bar becomes quite full with folks getting out of work in neighboring locations.
