The rally has a storied place in Ireland's history, as it was the first round of the Irish Tarmac Championship held in 1978. Today, the rally serves as the season opener for the championship.There are several important safety tips to keep in mind if you plan on attending the Safety Direct Galway International Rally. If it's your first rally, you want to take special care since you might not know what to expect.

Do's: You should always remain alert while expecting the unexpected and listening closely for any approaching cars. Do this by leaving enough room around yourself to get out of the way quickly and easily. Always keep small children under strict supervision and all dogs on a leash. Be sure to listen to the Marshals, because they are there to ensure the event remains safe.

Don'ts You should never stand on the stage or below the level of the road. Never stand in front of any arrows, signs or prohibited areas. Also be sure to never remove any of the stage signs or arrows. Don't block any escape routes and don't get distracted. You should be aware of your surroundings at all times.

Safety Direct Galway International Rally Details: Event headquarters will be held at the Clayton Hotel in Ballybrit, Galway.
