1. BBC Proms 2011

Short for Promenade concert, the Proms is one of London's greatest classical music festivals. Held at London's Royal Albert Hall, the Proms begins on July 15 and lasts for 58 days. Featuring performances by Maxim Rysanov, Paul Lewis, Matt Smith, David Robertson and many other music luminaries, the Proms is designed by the BBC to provide festival goers with inexpensive access to high-quality concerts.

2. London Theater

As the home of such famous dramatists as Shakespeare and Chaucer, London continues its longstanding tradition of theatrical excellence this summer. The city is set to be host to numerous plays and musicals such as Billy Elliot, Anne Boleyn, The Cherry Orchard, Doctor Faustus, Chicago: The Musical, Much Ado About Nothing and many more. Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap, billed as the longest running show in the world, can also be seen at St. Martin's Theater.

3. Spirit of Summer Fair 2011

One of London's premier boutique shopping attractions, the Spirit of Summer fair showcases the season's best home and garden products, summer fashion, gifts, swimwear and travel accessories. The fair also features numerous workshops that cover topics such as interior decorating and landscaping, all of which are curated by industry experts and professionals. Also available is a champagne bar, morning coffee, Mosimann's summer restaurant and numerous cafes. With hundreds of stores and boutiques exhibiting, the Spirit of Summer Fair 2011 is bound to be one of the best places to explore the newest trends in fashion, décor and design.

4. Notting Hill Carnival 2011

One of Europe's largest street festivals, London's Notting Hill Carnival will return to the city in 2011 on August Bank Holiday Weekend, which lasts from the 28th to the 29th of August. During the carnival, West London takes on a Caribbean theme and features Calypso music, food vendors, parades and costumes. The Notting Hill Carnival 2011 features special events such as the steel band competition on Saturday, Children's Day and costume contests on Sunday, and the carnival's primary parade on Monday. Attracting more visitors every year since its inception in 1964, the Notting Hill Carnival is expected to bring in thousands of people in 2011.

5. Summer Ball

London's Summer Ball is the city's foremost formal event and is only held every three years. With over 700 guests, the Summer Ball is elegant and grandiose in scale. While the price of admission can be a bit steep, a ticket to the Summer Ball includes a gourmet three course dinner, a silent auction, musical performances and other forms of entertainment. The Summer Ball is a charity event that is held at the Royal Academy of the Arts on June 20th.
