Not only did the Aviva Stadium in Dublin host the 2011 Europa League final, it will also host one of the premiere pre-season football events: the Dublin Super Cup, which will be held during the bank holiday, on July 30 and 31st. This new tournament, which is sponsored by Endomol Sport and the Football Association of Ireland (FAI), will feature some of Europe’s top clubs: the Premier League team Manchester City, Scottish giants Celtic FC, European and World Cup champions Inter Milan, and Airtricity XI, a team selected from the best players from Ireland’s top domestic League.
The style of the Dublin Super Cup is similar to that of the Amsterdam Tournament, another major pre-season, four-team, four-match event. The Dublin Super Cup is also an important pre-season preparation for the teams invited. Irish fans will be able to see some of the biggest names in world football in action—footballers like World Cup winner David Silva, English internationals Adam Johnson and Jamers Milner, Africa’s decorated player Samuel Eto’o from Cameroon, Holland’s Wesley Schneijder, Italy’s Mario Balotelli, Ivory Coast’s Yaya Toure, and Scotland’s Scott Brown.
Not only will the ticket holders to the Dublin Super Cup see the best football, they’ll have access to a host of great match-day entertainment, including live music and a variety of fun activities for all ages. Prices start at just €30 for adults and €10 for children. If you are planning on visiting the city and need a hotel, check out the Jurys Inn’s range of hotels in Dublin
