Tastes, sounds and smells! For us, no weekend in the city is complete without a trip to St Georges market.  Whether it’s the Friday variety market, or the Saturday and Sunday food and craft stalls, you're sure to have your senses buzzed!

The beautiful old market hall building is packed with vendors selling both local and international crafts.  We love to take our time and walk around the stalls - most of the food vendors provide samples and browsing the craft stands gives you the opportunity to chat directly to the artists.  It’s incredible to hear some of their stories.

The centre of the market hosts a seating area complete with live music; where acts vary from local folk bands to sugar-coated teenage pop-rock.  Whatever your taste, you’re bound to get swept up in the atmosphere and you’ll be tapping your feet on the table in no time.  It is difficult to put into words the vibe created within the market, it is truly Belfast at its best.

When it came to chowing down, we each chose between falafels, paella and Uruguayan burgers to name just a few. Whether you’re vegan, vegetarian, eating lean or looking for some serious guilt food, there really is something for everyone here.

On this occasion, I couldn’t help but go for a local favourite from the Belfast Bap Co.  The Belfast bap - floury, big, round, crusty on the outside and soft in the middle - filled with eggs and sausage is spot on for Sunday brunch.  A taste of authentic Belfast.  It’s dead on so it is!
