The Latin American Native Community in Ireland, or LANCI, is an organisation made up of Latin American expatriates who live and work in Dublin. In 2010, they organised a festival called the Dublin Native American Festival, and it was so successful, they’re doing it again, from Thursday, August 11th to Sunday the 14th. If your planning on visiting the city to experience the Latin culture and need a hotel, check out the Leonardo Hotels range of hotels in Dublin.

LANCI is sure that the 2nd annual festival will be bigger and better than last year, with music, dance, and culture to suit all tastes. They invite a European country to join the festival; this year, it’s Spain turn to assist their celebration of Latin culture. Their goal is to bring the multicultural communities from all Latin American countries to the residents of Dublin, and to allow them to enjoy their culture.

This will be done by the inclusion of an authentic Latin American Feria, or market, on August 14th, with cuisine, traditional folklore, and dance performances for a truly cross-cultural experience. Authentic native food is a central part of the festival, so the Feria will offer food from Brazil, Bolivia, Cuba, Argentina, and Chili. There will be many opportunities to sample the mouth-watering cuisine of Latin America throughout the festival. Additionally, the Feria will present booths of Latin American art and crafts from all over the region.

The Festival will also feature nationally and internationally known musicians and will promote local talent. Latin rock, salsa, pop, and traditional music will be heard throughout the weekend. Festival goers will be able to enjoy the dramatic, beautiful, and lighthearted dance from Latin American countries. Each traditional dance has its own great costume and fascinating history as it weaves visual tales from Columbia, Mexico, Argentina, Ecuador, and Peru.

Other events include concerts, Latin Nights Out, a gallery with Latin art and photography, a film festival, workshops, a kids’ programme, conferences, and open talks.
