For the first time in almost three years, George Michael is touring Europe again. This summer, he’ll perform in Prague, at the spectacular Prague Opera House, for one night only—22 August 2011. If you are planning on going to this gig and need a hotel then check out the Leonardo Hotels range of hotels in Prague.

This show is unlike any Michael has given before in his long and successful career. Entitled “Symphonica: The Orchestral Tour,” he’ll perform a carefully chosen selection of his own songs he’s recorded over the past thirty years, as well as cover some of his favourite songs by other artists. This music will, however, be re-worked and re-arranged for the orchestra, which will accompany him at each venue. Symphonica is a new musical direction for Michael, as well as a long-cherished artistic ambition—something he’s always wanted to do.

At the Prague Opera House, where he’ll debut his tour, both its orchestra and chorus will join Michael. It’s fitting that the Opera House is the first venue to kick off this long-anticipated tour. The Prague Opera House has a rich history, and has long been regarded as one of Europe’s most beautiful theatres. Each of the settings he’ll perform this summer has been carefully selected, both for the quality of their orchestras and for their luscious settings—in Prague, Denmark, Switzerland, France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Germany, Ireland, and the UK.

All the venues chosen for Michael’s Symphonica tour have a remarkable combination of architectural beauty, acoustic quality, and cultural history, and the Prague Opera House is ideal for the unique experience. Michael has gone from Wham!, the very definition of 80s pop music, to a truly magical solo career of extraordinary lyrical beauty combined with his vocal abilities, still remarkable after all these years.

It’s quite an accomplishment to go from 80s pop music to having his music accompanied by some of the great orchestras in the world, at some of the most spectacular theatres and opera houses in the world. George Michael’s concert at the Prague Opera House is an exciting way to kick off this new direction in his career.
