Manchester is the third most visited city in the United Kingdom. It is also one of England's most influential cultural centres. From a music perspective, it has produced bands such as The Smiths, The Chemical Brothers and Joy Division, and is said to have been the driving force behind indie music in the 1980's and 1990's. Manchester is also home to several theatrical venues. These include the Manchester Opera House, the Royal Exchange Theatre and the Palace Theatre. These venues and others will bring to life theatre in Manchester in December 2010.

December Productions in Manchester

Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs will be performed live at the Manchester Opera House between December 3rd and January 2nd, 2010. Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs is the classic fairy tale of an outcast princess who must overcome an evil witch's treachery to find her prince charming. She is aided in her quest by seven forest dwarfs. The December 2010 Manchester rendition of Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs has a hilarious script, extravagant costumes, audience participation, romance and big song and dance numbers. It's sure to be fun for the whole family.

Between December 3rd, 2010 and January 8th, 2011, A Christmas Carol will be performed at the Library Theatre in Manchester. A Christmas Carol tells the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, an infamous miser who willingly sacrifices anyone's well-being to make profit. On Christmas Eve, Scrooge is confronted by 3 Christmas spirits from the past, present and future. They attempt to reveal to him the error of his ways by showing him the consequences of his decisions. This year's A Christmas Carol at the Library Theatre is directed by Rachel O'Riodan, a critically acclaimed director with excellent reviews.
