The 1st Father Ted Festival was held in 2007 on the island of Inishmore, right off the coast of Galway, Ireland. Every year since then, 200 to 300 die hard Father Ted fans make the trek on an annual basis to engage in a variety of quirky Father Ted related events. This year’s TedFest will commemorate the smash hit Irish comedy from February 24th to the 27th. Attending this event is like partaking in a true-to-life episode of Father Ted. Hordes of fans come from all around the UK dressed as common characters from the television show. Accommodations are provided by the various bed and breakfast properties located in Inishmore. The 800 locals of Inishmore have gotten used to the light-hearted yet strange events of TedFest and welcome all interested tourists.

The accommodating pubs are always packed with lively fans drinking and eagerly anticipating the now traditional events – all based off of Father Ted storylines and comedy. The festival is centered on the following three primary events:

The Lovely Girls - A parody of the Rose of Tralee Festival beauty contest. Complete with a variety of nonsensical challenges. The Craggy Cup – The ever important football match usually played by teams from Inis Oirr and Inis Mor. Ted’s Got Talent – A Father Ted infused parody of the popular show Britain’s Got Talent.

This year’s event selection also includes:

The Ronnie Drew Hour The Virtual Confession Box The Craggy Island Kill Bill Festival Matchmaking with Nellie The Pirate Cruise A Walking Tour to the Amish Community

The admission price for Tedfest is 150 Euros per person. Lodging accommodations and ferry transport must be arranged separately. Due to the limited accommodation on the island, arrangements should be made at the earliest possible time.
