From April 9th to April 22nd, Edinburgh will be home to the 2011 Edinburgh International Science Festival. Featuring hundreds of discussions and panels as well as numerous tours and exhibits, the festival takes place at locations across the city of Edinburgh. This year marks the 23rd iteration of the festival, which is sponsored primarily by the Scottish Executive and the Edinburgh City Council.

The festival is held at a large number and variety of locations including Adam House, Assembly Hall, the City Art Centre, the Edinburgh International Conference Center, St. Mary's Cathedral, Usher Hall, the Royal Observatory and many more.

Past Edinburgh International Science Festival guests have include Brian Cox, Richard Dawkins and Sir Ian Wilmut. This year's festival will be visited by such individuals as Manjit Kumar, Lord Robert Winston and Simon Baron-Cohen. Richard Dawkins will return in 2011 as well.

This year also marks the first festival to be curated by a guest director, Richard Wiseman. A renowned author of scientific self-help books and a professor of psychology, Wiseman will take part in many events and will be joined by comedian Robin Ince and writer Jon Ronson.

The Edinburgh International Science Festival 2011 will also celebrate the International Year of Chemistry with a special exhibit called Atomise, which takes place at the Royal Botanic Garden. Aimed at adults, this exhibit highlights interesting and exciting chemical reactions and includes a series of evening talks. Individuals attending this event receive a free glass of wine.

Offering two weeks of scientific events and attractions, the Edinburgh International Science Festival 2011 is sure to provide unique and thought-provoking entertainment for individuals from all walks of life, including both travelers and Edinburgh locals.
