Jurys Inn Hotel Group today announced its sponsorship of the charity The Friends of St. Luke’s for the upcoming Flora Women’s Mini Marathon set to take place on Monday 3rd June. The charity is a vital source of support in the development of the St. Luke’s Radiation Oncology Network, which supports the needs of cancer patients and their families by funding state of the art treatment and equipment.
As part of the sponsorship, Jurys Inn has provided The Friends of St. Luke’s with €10,000 in funding to purchase 2,000 pink t-shirts for those running in the marathon on behalf of the charity, which will also be used for fundraising events around the country after the event.
With 400 women running in the Mini Marathon on behalf of The Friends of St. Luke’s, funds raised by the charity will go towards ensuring that the oncology centres continue to be well-equipped, warm, friendly and comfortable facilities for patients undergoing treatment, and those close to them.
Speaking at the announcement, John Brennan, CEO of Jurys Inn said, “As an Irish hotel group, we are fully committed to giving back to the communities where we operate and we are thrilled to sponsor The Friends of St. Luke’s for the Mini Marathon. This donation will help raise awareness across the country of the great work that The Friends of St. Luke’s does and the difference the charity makes to hundreds of patients’ lives – and we would like to wish all of the participants the very best of luck on the day!”
The St. Luke’s Radiation Oncology Network is comprised of three cancer treatment centres in Dublin; St. Luke’s Hospital in Rathgar, St. Luke’s Radiation Oncology Centre at Beaumont Hospital, and St. Luke’s Radiation Oncology Centre at St. James’s Hospital.
