A hundred years on and the story of Titanic continues to intrigue people around the world. The famous ship which was built in Belfast and set sail from Southampton to New York on her maiden voyage on 10th April 1912 will be commemorated in Belfast, Southampton and Cork with an extensive programme of events and exhibitions throughout 2012.

On the 10th April the City of Southampton Orchestra will perform a concert of classical and contemporary music from the Queen Elizabeth Terminal, overlooking the berth from which the Titanic set sail and will perform Vaughan Willam’s magnificent “Sea Symphony”. On 11th April, the date Titanic arrived in Cork Harbour, Cobh ( known then as Queenstown) and the last port of call before she sailed across the Atlantic, there will be a national tribute which will include commemorations, Air Corps fly-over and a Navy fleet review. There will also be a series of outdoor concerts which will feature prominent musicians and performers who will tell the story of the Titanic's connection with Ireland through different genres of music.
