Jurys Inn has been awarded the only gold accreditation from Investors in People for an international hotel group. The gold accreditation is one of only nine awarded to UK companies this year and represents the achievement of world class Human Resources best practice.
The Investors in People report describes the “Exceptional Everyday City Hotels” Jurys Inn group as a cutting edge organisation operating at the very highest levels of people management practice. The company has been commended for its true commitment to employees by championing internal promotion, with 90% of current Jurys Inn General Managers promoted from within.
Jurys Inn recognises the importance of developing both its business and its people. Irrespective of the level employees enter at, a variety of career options within the company encourage the achievement of their personal goals through skill development, building practical and theoretical expertise and for aspiring young General Managers, the development of leadership qualities. Jurys Inn focuses on recruiting people with a great hospitality attitude and training them for the skills required.
In 2011 Jurys Inn devised a leadership programme aimed at General Managers and the senior leadership team. This is now enabling the company to meet one of its core objectives, to have exceptional people with exceptional performance by enriching the training of General Managers, sharing best practice and providing more rounded expertise. The IIP accreditation is testament to the success of this programme and to the strength of the company’s core values.
John Brennan, CEO of Jurys Inn says of the new accreditation, “The gold recognition achieved by Jurys Inn marks a significant step forward in the hotel group’s commitment to creating and supporting exceptional people, and to achieving a culture that values people and their contributions to the business."
A total of 11 hotels were visited by assessors and 159 employees interviewed across the group including , line level employees, supervisors, managers and senior managers. The areas assessed ranged from Business, People and Learning Strategy to how they have been delivered through Management Effectiveness, Recognition and Reward and Involvement and Training. Re-accredited by the International Quality Centre, Jurys Inn underwent the required three year review, exceeding the Silver accreditation awarded to the hotel group in 2008.
Jurys Inn is a mid-market hotel group operating 32 City Centre hotels across the UK, Ireland and Czech Republic. The Irish hotel group with hospitality in its DNA is perceived as a credible alternative to 4 star and as winner of the Best Independent Hotel Brand in the 2010 Business Travel Awards many agree it’s helping to redefine the mid-market hotel sector.
