New management team at the ready for Jurys Inn NewcastleGateshead Quays opening on 25th August

David Malanaphy and his management team at the ready to open the second Jurys Inn hotel in Newcastle Gateshead on the 25th August. David who has held the position of General Manager at Jurys Inn Newcastle since 2006 will also be responsible for the new hotel and assumes the role of Cluster General Manager for the city’s two hotels. With 478 rooms between both hotels, Jurys Inn is the largest hotelier in the Newcastle/Gateshead area. David is one of Jurys Inn rising stars having started his career as trainee manager with the group at the age of 18 rising to Cluster General Manager at just 32. David is originally from Castlebar.
Reporting into David will be Hotel Manager, Fiona Blackwood, who will be responsible for the day to day running of the hotel. Originally from Edinburgh, Fiona started her career with Jurys Inn Edinburgh as GSS Supervisor in 1999 working her way up to become Deputy General Manager. In 2009 she moved to Aberdeen where, as Deputy General Manager she and the team opened Jurys Inn Aberdeen to full capacity just in time for a hectic Offshore Europe conference, the highlight of the Aberdeen calendar and what can only be described as a baptism of fire!
Debbie Brook, born and bred in Newcastle has worked with Jurys Inn Newcastle for the past eight years. Debbie becomes Cluster Sales Manager overseeing both hotels and is responsible for developing new and nurturing existing client accounts. Debbie started her hotel career when she was 18 working with Thistle Hotels then moved onto the agency side of the business working for American Express she then went on to hold a regional sales role with Hilton before joining Jurys Inn.
Jurys Inn NewcastleGateshead Quays will focus on providing the highest level of service and offering an award-winning welcome, in keeping with its sister hotel across the river, Jurys Inn Newcastle, a 274 room hotel opened in 2003. With three dedicated conference rooms, Jurys Inn NewcastleGateshead Quays aims to become an important partner to local businesses, as well as working closely with the local community. Situated right next to the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art and just a five-minute cab journey from Newcastle bus and train station, Jurys Inn NewcastleGateshead Quays is just a couple of minutes walk from popular tourist attractions the Gateshead Millennium Bridge and International music event and conference venue, The Sage Gateshead, offering something for hotel guests and local residents alike.
