More than 300 people interested in jobs at the new Jurys Inn Bradford, opening July 22nd
The new Jurys Inn Bradford management team hoped interest in 70 new jobs for local people at its hotel would be high when it held an open day on Saturday, May 8th at the National Media Museum. However the level of interest exceeded expectations with over 300 people attending on the day.
Eager job seekers started queuing at 8am, two hours before the recruitment day was due to start. Although a 6pm end to the day was scheduled, due to overwhelming demand interviews took place well into the evening.
A mix of candidates attended the recruitment day including first time job seekers, people looking for a career change and some long term unemployed. All candidates were given the chance to be interviewed for 15 minutes by the Jurys Inn management team who were assisted by the local Jobcentre and Local Impact, the government organisation which helps people find employment in Bradford.
100 people have been selected to go through to the second interview stage. Following the interviews, job offers will be made with Guest Service Supervisors commencing employment on June 21st and all other employees on June 28th.
Roger Clark-Coates, General Manager of Jurys Inn Bradford, commented: “It was great to see a lot of fresh graduates from Bradford College who are looking for their first jobs in the industry. Their passion was infectious. There were great candidates who have some fantastic experience in hospitality and other industries who are currently unemployed and are eager to get back to work. Overall, we were extremely pleased by the quality of candidates, people were lining up two hours before we were due to start, it was like something straight out of X-Factor!”
First and foremost, Jurys Inn Bradford was interested in the friendliness of potential candidates rather than people with cookie cutter hotel backgrounds. The unique Jurys Inn training programme will ensure that all people recruited will be ready to hit the ground running when the hotel opens on July 22nd.
The new Jurys Inn Bradford in the city centre on Thornton Road will have 198 bedrooms, three dedicated media rooms, a cardio gym, and a contemporary restaurant and bar. The hotel is looking forward to warmly welcoming local people to experience the hotel.
