It is widely believed that a change is just as good as a rest and can, in fact, be as restorative and refreshing as a period of relaxation.
To put this to the test, Jurys Inn is searching for 12 budding travel writers to road test a city break and report back. The 12 Jurys Inn City Break Bloggers will be invited, with a friend or partner, to spend a weekend courtesy of Jurys Inn, enjoying everything a UK city break has to offer, before sharing their experiences on the Jurys Inn website.
Research has shown a break from our daily routine, even for a short time, can have a huge impact on overall happiness. Jurys Inn has teamed up with positive psychologist, Miriam Akhtar, a leading practitioner of positive psychology in the UK, to find out more about the effects a short break can have on our well being. Miriam, a visiting lecturer in applied positive psychology in the UK, is one of a 100 global experts who contributed to the ‘World Book of Happiness’.
Miriam Akhtar comments: “Leaving the everyday at home and engaging in something new is a way to greater well-being. It gives us time to stop, relax and look around and to connect with our loved ones without the cluttered noise of our daily lives. Learning something new is one way to boost our well-being and with British cities offering so much stimulation in the form of their architecture, history, arts, culture and cuisine, much of which is free to access, there is something to appeal to everyone. Our cities also offer some great outdoor spaces and just five minutes of physical activity in a green environment like a park, is all it takes to generate positive emotions.”
Jurys Inn group marketing manager, Suzanne Cannon explained: “This is a great opportunity for anyone, young or old, to experience a city break with Jurys Inn and report back as to whether it had impact on general happiness and wellbeing. What many of us don’t consider is just how easy and affordable it is to get away in the UK for a couple of days and how you can enjoy the same restorative benefits your annual holiday gives you without having to take any holiday leave or break the bank. We’re really excited about launching our search for our City Break Bloggers as we see first-hand from our guests how getting away for the weekend can really lift the spirits. The Blogger will be expected to review our hotel offering as we seek to improve a city break experience.”
Jurys Inn offers late check outs, free online city guides to help you plan a trip with tips recommended by the Jurys Inns’ team of local experts, breakfast at a time to suit guests, a saving of 20% when you add dinner at the time of booking, plus kids under 12 stay free of charge and can enjoy a free breakfast.
