Jurys Inn Exeter Makes History With New Town Primary School
Exeter City Football Club’s Steve Perryman set to officially open the hotel. New Town Primary School plants time capsule to mark the occasion
After throwing its doors open to the public on Friday 5th June, the team at Jurys Inns Exeter Hotel are holding a ceremony to commemorate the launch of the new hotel, at 12pm on Wednesday, 8th July 2009. The hotel will be officially opened by Steve Perryman, Director of Football, Exeter City Football Club. New Town Primary School have planted a time capsule this week to mark the occasion.
The opening ceremony will include a champagne reception, hosted by Graham Hole, General Manager of Jurys Inn Exeter, followed by a lunch for associates of the hotel and local business partners.
During the ceremony, Graham Hole will announce a new charity partnership, as Jurys Inn Exeter confirms Childrens’ Hospice Southwest as its Charity of the Year. Toni Hasler, Corporate Fundraiser for the charity will be present at the ceremony and offer a few words on the planned collaboration.
Graham Hole, General Manager of Jurys Inn Exeter comments: “We’re very excited to be officially opening our hotel with local football hero Steve Perryman. Since opening our doors less than a month ago we have been focused on becoming a central part of the local community and we are very happy to announce a new partnership with the Childrens’ Hospice Southwest.”
Students from New Town Primary School planted a time capsule on Monday with Barbara Cassani, Chairwoman of Jurys Inns Group who was visiting from the company’s head office ahead of the official opening. Clare Ward, a teacher at the school commented: “The students were very excited to visit the new hotel and plant a time capsule. The children were very creative, painting and drawing pictures of Exeter which capture what the city means to them.”
The £15 million hotel, which has 170 bedrooms, has proved a huge success since opening last month, welcomed by the local community and creating 50 jobs in the area.
Steve Perryman commented: “Everyone at the football club is enjoying what the hotel has to offer – a great bar and restaurant, plus fantastic accommodation for visitors to the area including fans who are in town for Exeter City Football Club match days.”
Each of the 170 spacious bedrooms at the hotel have been stylishly designed with comfort in mind. All rooms feature high-speed internet access, 26 inch flat-screen TV with Freeview channels, self-control air-conditioning and a direct dial telephone.
An informal contemporary restaurant provides a range of value for money dinner options as well as breakfast, whilst the relaxed bar area features a varied menu of sandwiches, light dishes and drinks. The coffee bar, Il Barista, serves a range of pastries and coffee-to-go.
