The hotel will be officially opened by the Deputy Mayor of Swindon, Rex Barnett who will be joined by Scott Cuthbert, Hasney Aljofree and Kurt Hammonds from Swindon Town Football Club. The opening ceremony will include a champagne reception, hosted by Andy Gray, General Manager of Jurys Inn Swindon, followed by a lunch for associates of the hotel and local business partners.
The £20 million hotel, which has 229 bedrooms, has proved a huge success since opening last month, welcomed by the local community and creating 80 jobs in the area.
During the ceremony, Andy Gray will announce a new charity partnership, as the hotel confirms Swindon based children’s cancer and leukaemia charity, CALM as its Charity of the Year. Richard Crowley, Chairman for the charity will be present at the ceremony and offer a few words on the planned collaboration.
Children from CALM will add to Tim Carroll’s exhibition at the hotel by drawing and painting their own pictures of Swindon which will be on display. Tim’s artwork will be available for sale with a percentage of proceeds going to the charity.
Andy Gray, General Manager of Jurys Inn Swindon comments: “We are excited to be officially opening our hotel today and unveiling a fantastic exhibition of Swindon inspired paintings by local artist, Tim Carroll. We’re very pleased that the hotel has become a central part of the community since opening its doors just over a month ago. Many local people have been dropping in to enjoy drinks at the bar with friends and dinner at the restaurant. This week, we would like to warmly welcome the local community to the hotel to enjoy Tim’s art including the wonderful painting he has done to celebrate our official opening.”
Tim Carroll comments: “Swindon is the inspiration for much of my artwork. I’ve lived in the town since 1969 and have observed and captured its changes over the years through my paintings and drawings of local buildings and landscapes. I was very pleased to be asked by Jurys Inn Swindon to paint a picture to mark the official opening of the hotel which is a new centrepiece of the town.”
