Bushstock is a one-of-a-kind, one-day long music festival taking place Saturday 4th June 2011. The festival is put on by Communion Music, which began promoting monthly club night shows in London in 2006. Communion has since grown into its own record label and now hosts nine monthly club nights on three continents. This year, Bushstock will showcase thirty bands—new talent along with more established artists from West London, the UK, and the world—at four venues. Communion is very proud of the headliners they’ve booked for Bushstock. Tickets are selling for £27.50; early bird tickets are already sold out.

One of the artists booked is Australian singer Sarah Blasko, a critically acclaimed organic pop singer and musician who defies easy classification. New band Cloud Control, whose album, “Bliss Release,” came out in May, also hails from Australia. Their musical influences are eccentric, ranging from David Byrne and Jefferson Airplane.

Another new band, Treetop Flyers, have been compared to the harmonies of Crosby, Still, Nash and Young. Their new album will be released by Communion later in 2011. They combine rich harmonies with folksy and country-western melodies. FINK will debut their new LP, “Perfect Darkness,” in St. Stephen’s Church, one of the venues for Bushstock 2011. They’ll also perform previously-recorded material from their other critically-acclaimed albums. FINK consists of Fin Greenall on lead vocals and guitar, Guy Whittaker on bass, and Tim Thornton on drums and guitar.

The Staves, which consist of three sisters, combine American and British folk and sing of love and loss on the guitar and ukulele and with their three unique voices. Communion is excited about bringing them to Bushstock this summer. Tom Williams and the Boat, which came into its own in 2010 with a string of successful singles, has been called “literate UK guitar pop.” They have toured throughout the UK since, with the band Stornoway, as headliners, and in other festivals, and released their first album in late February.
