The O2 in London is actually an entertainment district in the Greenwich area of South East London. It’s a group of venues: an indoor arena, a cinema, a music club, an exhibition space, bars, and restaurants which was built under a large dome. Additionally, the O2 is probably the safest building in the UK, with the best security provided for its visitors. There’s always something going on at the O2, and there’s no exception in the month of September, as we bid farewell to the summer and its events such as the Camden Fringe festival. The winter maybe closing in but this city still had a number of other events on the horizon such as the Mayor's Thames Festival in September and there is also plenty going on in the O2 arena.
The O2 Arena, a 23,000 concert venue, is located at the centre of the O2 and is the largest indoor arena in Europe. It has hosted several music and sporting events since it opened in 2007, and will host several events during the 2012 Olympics. The stage show “Batman Live” will end its appearance at the O2 in early September. Dolly Parton will perform the 7th and 8th. The Ben 10 Monster Truck Mania will take place on the 10th and 11th. The Peace One Day Celebration will take place on the 21st. Comedian Lee Evans will end the month and continue into October, starting Sept. 28.
The IndigO2 is a 2500 capacity live music club for smaller music and club events, after shows, and corporate and private events. It has four bars and no seats with obstructed views. Its September line-up is spectacular. The Indian Ocean concert will be there on the 2nd, Jimmy Cliff will perform on the 3rd, the UK Bhangra Music Awards will be conducted there on the 11th, and Charlie Wilson will perform on the 16th. The Giants of Lovers Rock event will take place on the 23rd, and Glow on the 24th.
The O2 Bubble is a two-storey bubble-shaped exhibition space that rivals any museum in the world. Since 2009, the third floor of the Bubble became a permanent exhibition called the British Music Experience, a sixty-year retrospective of British popular music. Other current exhibitions include the interactive Sky News display and “The Titanic: The Artefact Exhibition,” which celebrates the 100th anniversary of the sinking of that great ship.
