Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra: Peer Gynt Jan 30

At the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 30, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra will perform works by Sibelius, Rachmaninov, and Grieg. The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra is under the direction of conductor Vasily Petenko. Tickets for this concert range in price from 11 Euros to 35 Euros.
The first piece on this program is the Peer Gynt Suit No. 1 by Grieg. The concert ends with Sibelius's First Symphony. This work is in four movements: Andante ma non troppo-Allegro energico, Andante, Scherzo, and Finale: Andante-Allegro molto- Andante assai- Allegro molto come prima- Andante. The piece incorporates many string and woodwind solos, including a long clarinet solo in the first movement. Jean Sibelius was a native of Finland and helped to create the musical identity for that nation.
This exciting concert features three of the most influential composers of their countries during the late romantic period of music. All are heavily influenced by Russian romanticism.
