Leading hotel group, Jurys Inns, has today opened the doors to their latest hotel, Jurys Inn Watford, as they welcomed in the first guests.
The team celebrated the opening and the handing over of the hotel from the development partner McAleer and Rushe by releasing Jurys Inn Watford balloons into the sky.
Throughout the morning, hotel staff have been out-and-about distributing muffins at the busy taxi rank outside Watford Junction. Staff have also been in the Harlequin Shopping Centre distributing some free Jurys Inn Watford branded gifts and leaflets about the new hotel to the public.
The staff started work early this morning as they opened the doors to the Herts Mercury FM Breakfast team who broadcasted their “Feel Good Friday” show live from the hotel lobby. To also help spread the word of the new opening, there is a fleet of 10 branded taxis driving around Watford promoting the hotel.
Michelle Hickey, General Manager of Jurys Inn Watford, said: “We have had such a fabulous response to the opening. The whole of Watford is talking about the hotel and we’re expecting a large crowd in at the end of the working day to have a look at the finished article and enjoy our hospitality.”
Following the successful Jurys Inn formula of offering guests accommodation in the heart of the town centre, the £16.5 million hotel is based just minutes from the bustling Watford Junction train station, the popular Watford Palace Theatre and the Harlequin Centre.
Jurys Inn Watford is the Group’s 19th UK based hotel and second opening of 2009 following Jurys Inn Sheffield in January. In partnership with Watford’s Job Centre Plus, the Group has created 45 hospitality jobs, with five going to long-term unemployed people via Jurys Inn’s renowned Pre-Employment Programme.
Each of the 216 spacious bedrooms at the hotel have been stylishly designed with comfort in mind and can accommodate up to either three adults; two adults and two children; or just a single person. All rooms feature high-speed internet access, 26 inch flat-screen TV with Freeview channels, self-control air-conditioning and a direct dial telephone. The Jurys Inns fixed room rate pricing policy offers excellent value for money with a Special Weekend Opening Rate available from £49 per night.
“Jurys Inn Watford is a place that both visitors and residents of Watford can enjoy. We have invested heavily in the area, creating new hospitality jobs that have all been filled by local people. As a result the hotel has a warm and welcoming feel to it, which is very much in keeping with the Jurys Inn brand.” concludes Hickey.
An informal contemporary restaurant provides a range of value for money dinner options as well as breakfast, whilst the relaxed bar area features a varied menu of sandwiches, light dishes and drinks. The wide-screen TV will broadcast news roundups at breakfast and key sporting events in the evenings, whilst the coffee bar, Il Barista, will serve a range of pastries and gourmet coffee-to-go for those tight on time.
The hotel also offers a range of amenities for the business guest or local companies looking for meeting room facilities, offering a suite of eight dedicated meeting rooms with capacities for up to 100.
