40% more of us may be holidaying at home this summer but that doesn't mean to say British holidaymakers can't have exactly what they want - a suntan, the sound of the sea, a warm welcome and sand between their toes! Leading hotel chain Jurys Inns, has announced an initiative to ensure all of its guests experience the perfect summer holiday this year.
On the back of the recently published Visit Britain research, which highlights that 40% more Brits will holiday at home this year, Jurys Inns decided to investigate further and discover the exact criteria for the perfect summer holiday, wherever the location. A poll of Jurys Inn customers echoed what most Brits would claim are the key factors to ensure the success of a summer holiday.
They are:
- A suntan, or just to feel the heat is important
- The sound of the sea
- A friendly, warm welcome
- Familiar holiday smells – such as saltwater and suntan lotion
- The feeling of sand between our toes
On the back of these findings, Jurys Inns have taken decisive action and implemented a ‘perfect holiday’ package. With hotels in three popular seaside locations – Brighton, Plymouth and Southampton, the Jurys Inns Group is an expert in what customers expect from a holiday. Therefore, Jurys Inns is trialling the ‘perfect holiday’ package in its Brighton hotel, with plans to roll it out nationally at a later date.
To ensure the perfect summer holiday for all guests, wherever the location, Jurys Inn Brighton will offer the following:
- Temperature control in every hotel room – for the perfect holiday heat
- A free spraytan for every couple making a booking before the end of May, for a guaranteed tan
- Relaxing seaside sounds played throughout the hotel
- The scent of sea, sand and suncream pumped through the hotel lobby and provided for individual rooms on request
- A layer of sand at reception, so guests can feel the sand between their toes as soon as they arrive. On request, personal sand trays can also be provided in rooms
- The traditional and award-winning Jurys Inns welcome

“We quite clearly see sand and a tan as key components for a successful holiday and these are the areas that have let the Great British holiday down in the past. Holidays aren’t always as stress free as we hope they will be, especially when travelling abroad with trips to the airport, last minute packing, language barriers when we get there, etc. Therefore, this new trend for holidaying at home, or ‘staycations’ as they are known, are a great way to enjoy hassle-free time with the family.
