Leading hotel group, Jurys Inns, is delighted to announce the appointment of Andy Gray as General Manager of the new Jurys Inn Swindon which will open on 12th June 2009.
Andy, originally from Newcastle Upon Tyne, joined Jurys Inns in 2001 on the graduate training programme and cut his teeth at Jurys Inn Glasgow and Birmingham.
Andy is no stranger to dealing with new hotel openings and brings extensive experience to Jurys Inns hotel in Swindon. In 2003, he was lured back to his home town to take up the post of Conference and Banqueting Manger at the new Jurys Inns hotel in Newcastle where he was also a key member of the new opening team. This was followed by yet another new opening, this time Jurys Inns Heathrow hotel in 2004 where he was appointed to the role of Conference Manager. He was later promoted to Deputy General Manager the post he held until his recent appointment as General Manager of the new Jurys Inn Swindon hotel.
Andy played professional football until the age of 19 and it was during this time that he studied Business Administration at Newcastle College and gained an honours degree in Business at Northumbria University.
Glenn Bannerman will take up the position of Deputy General Manager following three years with Jurys Inns. His previous role was that of Group Sales Manager where he was responsible for managing an £8 million portfolio of key consortia agents and corporates across the UK and Ireland. Glenn’s career in the travel industry kicked off over 20 years ago when he took his first job as a greet host for Thomas Cook retail.
Since then he has worked for airlines and cruise companies, however, his real passion is within the hotel industry where he has gained extensive experience working for brands such as Holiday Inns, Moat House Hotels, Kensington Close Hotel and Qhotels. Glenn hopes the experience he will gain at Jurys Inn Swindon will help him fulfil his ambition to one day becoming a General Manager with Jurys Inns. Glenn is originally from Berkshire.
Sally Wallis, has been appointed to the position of Sales Manager. Sally who was born and bred in Swindon brings a wealth of local knowledge to the team not just in terms of knowing the area but also in identifying potential new business. Prior to joining Jurys Inn in 2009, she worked as Regional Sales Manager for Menzies Hotels based in Swindon.
Before moving into the hotel business, Sally spent many years working in event management, during which time she worked for international companies including; Morgan Stanley, MAN, Royal Mail and Diageo across the UK and Europe. Sally’s foray into sales began when she worked for Yamaha Europe.
